Little Suite for trumpet or cornet and brass band (Wilfred Heaton)

Composed for recorder and piano in 1955, Heaton reworked Little Suite on at least three later occasions, for ute and strings, brass quintet (Five Bagatelles) and brass band (Five Little Pieces). He left some pages of sketch with the solo part for cornet written out but the scoring beneath empty. Paul Hindmarsh has arranged the accompaniment, taking into account all three versions, to provide a short, but deceptively challenging concert suite for trumpet (or cornet) and brass band.
This work was recorded by Richard Marshall and the Black Dyke Band (SPS 417CD)
